Stampin Up Color Combos

Do you have a hard time choosing colors when making cards?  I know I do.  I really struggle with it.  I am starting to work on my color combos.  I thought I would take you along for the ride!  I got a Better Homes and Garden magazine from a friend and it is all about color palates for interior decorating.  But I thought why not use it for cards!?

After checking out the samples in the magazine,  I decided to use, Summer Starfruit, Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango and Sahara Sand as a combo.  They are pretty close to the sample colors provided in the article.
Then I decided to switch out the solid Island Indigo with a printed Island Indigo pattern. The piece I used is from the Sycamore Street Designer Paper that is FREE with a $50 order right now.
Here is the first card.  The magazine said to use the neutral color for the majority of your room, so I applied that same concept to the card.  I really love how this one turned out.  The splash of Tangerine goes perfect.  I chose Summer Starfruit as my card base because it was my least favorite in this combo. I used the Million Dollar Moments Stamp set, this is a hostess set you can choose for FREE when you are your own hostess at a $150 order.

Here’s the second one and it’s my FAVORITE!!!  I love the ducky!
Although the colors don’t scream spring to me, I feel like the stamp sets really make if feel like a spring card.  I love the oval frame.  I cut two ovals from the Oval Collection Framelits.
Here is the video!

Since we are focusing on Finding what works… I am trying out this idea!  I put plain grid cards all over the house with pens.  This way when I think of something great to write down or a moment  happens I can write it down.  So far it’s working great.  My plan is to print January photos in February then I will already have my journaling finished.  I will let you know next month how it worked!

You are my Sunshine Chalkboard Technique

The chalkboard technique is very new to me.  I AM IN LOVE with it!  We have great single stamps out right now.  This project features the You are My Sunshine one.  It’s only $5.95 for the stamp!

I had a stack of 6 compressed boards.  I used my Crop A Dile to punch holes in the tops of them so I could use them to hang up.  I painted the boards with chalkboard paint from the local hardware store.  I used the Whisper White Craft Stampin Pad from Stampin Up.  I had to use my heat gun to dry the ink.  I just love how they turned out!  I used 1 1/4″ Two Tone Ribbon from the Sping Catalog, you can find it on page 13.
Here is what my desk looked like when I was working… I was so into making these. I had a blast!

I made this one for my sister!  She’s amazing. And I always want her to remember that because she believed in herself she is who she is today.  Happy Birthday Katie!

I made this one for Tina, my friend, for her to hang in her office! And the Oh Hello one is for me I think! LOL… I just love it, it’s my favorite one and I think I will hang it in our bedroom.
