3 Tips For Creating Unique Shaped Cards

Today I created some unique shaped cards and wanted to share a few tips I learned.

UNIQUE SHAPED CARDS

The first card I am sharing is an oval shape. My idea was to make it look like an egg, I think it conveys that idea.

The cute little bunny is the Easter Bunnies stamp set from The Rabbit Hole Designs.

TIP 1: When die-cutting your unique shaped card make sure to leave the die off the edge of the fold. This way you don’t cut through the fold line.

This next card is stunning with the bright fun colors from the cardstock in the Your Paper Insider box. I used the Primrose Garden Dies and Stap set from Concord & 9th for this card.

TIP 2: Make sure you cut a separate panel for your card front when creating a unique shape card. This way if you have an odd shape card base you can cover it up with the shape it’s supposed to be on the front.

TIP 3: Be mindful of the shape. If you want your card to be able to stand up make sure the edge you cut on leaves the best edge for the card to stand up. In the case of the oval shape card, it will not stand up on its own. It is better for being tucked in a gift.
