Have you ever tried watercolor smooshing? It’s such a fun cardmaking technique and a fantastic way to make a lot of cards quickly.
Today I am sharing three ways to create these fun card backgrounds.
Each of the videos below are YouTube Shorts. These are quick videos under 1 minute that just show the basic concept of an idea. Don’t worry I will still be doing normal videos, but these are fun and great for sharing a quick little tip.
WATERCOLOR SMOOSHING WITH STAMPIN’ WRITE MARKERS
For this first cardmaking technique use Stampin’ Write markers, water based markers, to color on a clear block. Spritz with water and smoosh watercolor paper into the ink.
Here is the finished card. I used the Deckled Rectangle Dies to create this card. After adding the watercolor elements I die cut with the dies and layered on the front of the card base.
WATERCOLOR SMOOSHING WITH INK PADS
This next technique is super fun. Use a water based ink pad and smoosh it into a clear block. Spritz the clear block and then stamp the block on a piece of watercolor paper.
Allow to dry and add your stamping and other decorations.
I used Tahitian Tide, Orchid Oasis and Starry Sky ink pads to create this card. The finished watercolor piece is paired with Butterfly Kisses Designer Series Paper and Starry Sky Cardstock.
The sentiment is from the Charming Sentiment Bundle.
WATERCOLOR SMOOSHING WITH INK REFILLS
Grab a large clear block or a surface that is easy to clean up. Use Stampin’ UP! Ink Refills to add dots to the clear block.
Spritz the clear block with water and smoosh the watercolor paper into the clear block.
To finish off the card design I used the Beautiful Shapes Dies to die cut hexagons out of the watercolor paper design.
I love how this card turned out and it was fun to make it a 4″ x 4″ card.
