Today we are going to celebrate Aunt Linda.
Yesterday was Mom, click here to see that post and hear that story.
This card is colorful. Just like Aunt Linda.
She’s a ton of fun, easy to get along with and kind of crazy (shhhh don’t tell her I said that)
The thing about Aunt Linda is she’s my person. Growing up we all have one person that makes us feel special and loved (or we should have). Aunt Linda was that person for me.
I wasn’t an easily lovable kid. I was loud, opinionated, obnoxious, shoot I am still some of those things, I’ve just learned to tame them down.
Aunt Linda didn’t care that I was those things. She loved me anyway and she never pointed out my flaws to me. She didn’t make me feel less than and I never ever felt like I annoyed her. This was not the case for a lot of other people in my family. Trust me, just cause people are related to you, doesn’t mean they are kind to you.
As an adult we can look back and see that we were hard kids, or difficult to raise.
But as a child, we just feel like no one likes us and there is something “wrong” with who we are.
Ultimately I say this to you… Be an Aunt Linda. If you have a kid in your life that is challenging love them anyway and try your best to ignore their annoying behaviors. Because, maybe someday that kid will grow up and make you a special card and write about you. What do you want them to say?
