Friends, today I don’t have anything magical for you. HAHA! I know, less than a fabulous way to start a blog post. But it’s the truth.
The stamp set is adorable. The card sketch is fantastic. My card, meh. Let’s talk about it.
WHEN YOUR CARD IS, MEH
You know friends, we can’t nail them all. While I don’t love this card, I also don’t hate it. I just feel, meh, about it.
Let’s talk about what to do when a card falls flat of your expectations.
But before we do here are the measurements for this card:
+ 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ Highland Heather Cardstock card base
+ 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ Basic White Thick Cardstock
+ 2-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ Highland Heather Cardstock (embossed)
+ 3-1/4″ x 4-3/4″ Basic White Thick Cardstock
You just keep going. If I had this card to do over, I would not have colored the flooring the way I did. Truthfully, I feel like it just messed up the vibe I was going for.
What would I have done instead? I am really not sure. Possibly just colored my llama image and die cut and put it on a colored piece of cardstock.
The other option would have been to do a little Pinterest digging to see if I could come up with a cute background idea.
At the end of the day, it’s just a card. And while I was tempted to completely scrap this and start over, I chose to complete and it and share it. No matter how long you’ve been creating there are times you just won’t hit it out of the park with your card design, and that’s ok.
I say embrace the fumble and move on.
Let me know in the comments what you think I could’ve done to make this card a little more appealing.
