Today I’m going to show you how to make pop up window cards. Yep, just like the title says.
Pop Up Window cards have been around for a long time, as a result, you can find a million ideas on the internet.
The Ride the Range stamp set from Stampin’ UP! was a great choice for this weeks color combination because it lends itself to a masculine and outdoor feel.
For example, the arch cut out is so fabulous for this type of card and I’m thinking I need to make a shaker card with it as well. What do you think?
Back to the card I made, as you can see I ink blended a 4-1/8″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White thick cardstock with Night Of Navy ink on top and Garden Green Ink on the bottom.
Everything else is stamped and die cut. I colored the horse and rider with Stampin’ Blends.
The measurements for this card are:
+ I cut two pieces of Night of Navy at 6-1/4″ x 5-1/2″, and scored each of them on the landscape side at 1/2″ and 1″ from each end.
+ Die cut the opening of your choice from one of the pieces of cardstock you’ve just cut and scored.
+ Insert piece of Basic White cardstock is 4-1/8″ x 5-1/4″
+ The finished card size when folded down is 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and will fit in a regular size envelope.
Now on to the next card in my how to make a pop up window cards adventure.
This card is my favorite of the two, because who doesn’t love a succulent. Succulents are the easiest of all plants to care for and grow in my opinion, because of that, I own several.
I started this card with a piece of Basic White cardstock cut at 5-5/8″ x 5-3/8″ and I ink blended in Night of Navy all around the succulents.
Next, I stamped the pot and succulents in black Staz On ink and used a water painter brush with ink pads to color the succulents and the pot.
Before I assembled everything I background stamped the front card piece in Cinnamon Cider ink with one of the small succulent stamps.
The measurements on this card are the same, but the scoring is different. Instead of scoring the cardstock at 1/2″ and 1″ on each end, score it at 1/2″ and 3/4″ on each end.
This makes the pop up card slimmer, but it is wider than the other one.
As a result, it won’t fit in a regular size envelope, you have to make an envelope that is larger.
The finished card size is 5-1/2″ x 4-3/4″, if you find a good envelope that you don’t have to make, let me know.
