There’s something undeniably magical about handmade cards—especially when they feature surprise elements and cozy countryside charm. Today, I’m sharing a special project that blends rustic elegance with a little interactive fun: a pop-up window card using the Cottage Countryside 6×6 patterned paper from Honey Bee Stamps and their beautiful Wishing Well Lovely Layers die set.

The Inspiration
I wanted to create a card that felt like a peek into a peaceful rural garden—something that could bring a smile before it’s even opened. The delicate florals and soft plaids of the Cottage Countryside paper pack immediately set the tone: warm, inviting, and delightfully vintage. And what better centerpiece than a layered wishing well, built with depth and texture thanks to the Lovely Layers series?
Inside surprise: The real magic happens when you open the card! The Wishing Well Lovely Layers dies were perfect for building a 3D scene. I die-cut the well from white cardstock and colored each piece with Copic Markers. The bucket, roof, and base all layer beautifully, giving the illusion of real wood and stone.
Why I Love This Combo
The mix of Honey Bee’s soft, storybook-style patterned papers with their ultra-detailed die sets makes this card come alive. The Wishing Well Lovely Layers dies are incredibly versatile—you could create seasonal versions with snow, florals, or even tiny pumpkins.
Whether you’re a seasoned cardmaker or just starting out, this project is a great way to explore layers, dimension, and simple pop-up mechanics. Plus, it’s just plain fun!
