Today I have some fun simple handmade greeting card ideas for you. A few weeks ago I shared some simple handmade valentine card ideas and several people commented how much they enjoyed the ideas and the simplicity of the cards.
Once a month I will be sharing some really basic but creative ideas for making greeting cards.
I have several ideas for you using the Kite Delight Stamp Set from Stampin’ UP! These cards were so much fun to create and I easily could’ve kept going, but I have responsibilities that get in the way of my stamping. Such a bummer.
I chose to stick with the 2020-2022 In Colors in order to limit supplies I used for these cards. Limiting supplies is a great way to help you expand your creativity.
I know that sounds counterintuitive, how can limiting your options make you more creative. Don’t ask me the science behind this, I just know that it works.
Keeping It Simple For Handmade Greeting Cards
With just 5 ink colors and white paper I was able to create 5 handmade greeting cards that are unique and adorable.
In order to keep things simple I cut several card bases at 4-1/4″ x 11″ and a layer for stamping, which was cut at 3-3/4″ x 5″. I kept Basic White Thick scraps on hand for stamping some of the images and hand cutting them out.
One of the best tricks of the trade is pattern stamping. Look for images that you may think of as a singular image, and then stamp it repeatedly to create your own simple greeting card background.
As you can see between the two images here, one is a simply stepped up from the other.
The other stamp set I wanted to use for these simple greeting card ideas is the For The Record stamp set from Stampin’ UP!
This stamp set is great for quick and easy handmade birthday cards.
For these cards I used the 2021-2023 In Colors from Stampin’ UP!
A set of five in color inks is only $33.75. You can purchase them in a full set which is perfect for the new stampers. Keep in mind that Stampin’ UP! inks are refillable, so once you buy an ink pad you can refill it with ink rather than replacing the ink pad.
The other big bonus of Stampin’ UP! in general is the color coordination. So when you purchase a full set of inks together you know they will all coordinate beautifully. It takes the guess work out of figuring out your color combinations for your cardmaking.
