Today’s cards feature the brand new Magical Day stamp set and Magical Mates framelits.
I squealed when I saw this bundle in the catalog. It immediately reminded me of Disneyland then it made me think of Harry Potter.
All things magical and whimsy.
I absolutely love that this set works for both boys and girls. If we are being very gender prototypical, you’ve got unicorns and mermaids to please the gals and dragons and wizards and knights for the fellas.
Now in my house dragons and wizards are just as appealing to us ladies as they are to the old man that sits in the chair (HA).
The purpose of today’s video is to answer some questions regarding the Stampin’ Blends as they compare to Copic Markers.
I have received several emails over the last month or so with questions about these.
The biggest one, and frankly the one that is the most silly, is “If people want to use alcohol markers, why wouldn’t they just by copic markers? They are the best.”
My answer: Copics are AMAZING. I own lots of them. I love them. I color with them regularly. Guess how much my collection has cost, $500+. YES!!!!! And I don’t even have them all. Guess how much time I have invested in learning the copic marker coding system and how to blend well? I am thinking I am definitely over 100 hours now. I have invested a good $200 into classes that would teach me how to use these markers.
I have invested $121 in Stampin’ Blends and learned to use them in about an hour. You see the difference here.
Don’t compare apples to oranges.
Watch the video and I will chat more about things.

Do you use the same paper for both markers?
Wendy says

Hi, I’m new to the alcohol inks & have a lot to learn. I think the blendables are a good starting point for me. But I would like to explore the copics. Would you give the Copic numbers you used on the knight and the other image you liked better in copic? I’m looking forward to playing with the Magical Day bundle, thanks for the video. I love SU but I too also like to explore other products.
Wendy says
Hi Margo,
The copic markers I used are C1, C3, C5 and C7 for the gray.

Thank you for this video! As a new demo and long time customer of SU, I always hesitated to join SU because I didn’t want to limit my creativity by being exclusive to SU products. When making my decision I looked through the supplies that I have and realized that most all of my supplies were from SU. That when I knew that I could represent SU with integrity even though I may not personally use SU product exclusively.
