This month, we’re diving into the controversial medical custody case of Maya Kowalski, a story that shocked many and raised important questions about parental rights and medical autonomy. While we unpack this complex case, I will also be creating a cheerful birthday card featuring the adorable Picket Fence Studios Quacktastic stamp and dies set.
There’s something therapeutic about channeling creative energy while processing difficult stories, so gather your crafting supplies as we explore both the troubling case and the joy of cardmaking. As always, we’ll start with the true crime story before moving on to our step-by-step crafting tutorial.

A Quacktastic Birthday Creation:
The finished birthday card showcases the charming Picket Fence Studios Quacktastic stamp set in all its adorable glory. I created a cheerful scene with a scalloped card base featuring a smooth gradient background – a bright sky blue at the top blended with a fresh spring green at the bottom using Distress Inks for that perfect watercolor-like effect. The star attractions are, of course, the parade of ducks marching across the green “grass” – mama duck in her pink and purple accessories leading her fluffy ducklings, some carrying cattails. Each character was carefully stamped, colored with Copic markers to add dimension and personality, then precision die-cut before being adhered to create a sense of movement across the card front. Floating white clouds and tiny water droplets complete the pond-side scene, while the playful “HAVE A LUCKY DUCKY BIRTHDAY” sentiment adds the perfect finishing touch. The contrast between the white die-cut images and the vibrant background makes the entire design pop with cheerful energy – perfect for brightening someone’s special day!
