I thought I would share today the homeschool curriculum we use, since I do get asked quite a bit. Christian Liberty Academy. I also had to share that my Stampin’ UP! classes have been going great and all my ladies really enjoy seeing our crafting area shared as a school area! 🙂
Hey Everyone,

When we arrive at Spanish class on Mondays this is who we are greeted by. Meet Annie! The dogs at this ranch are HUGE! I’ve never seen anything like them. They are all super lovable and sweet.
Macie loves working on the white board. Sometimes when she is not in the mood to do other stuff she will do this. I can always refocus her by using the white board 🙂
My thoughts: This week started off well. We do Spanish class every Monday at 10am, and I think this is going to be a great thing. We go to a ranch nearby and there are about 15 homeschool kids of all ages. I like the environment. I disappear into a nearby room so that Macie is forced to “fend for herself”. But I am within ear shot. Perfect situation, as far as I am concerned. It also helps that the Spanish teacher is one of her Sunday School teachers.
Last week was filled with lots of hesitation and apprehension (for me) Macie was fine. This week I am feeling much more confident and relaxed. Still a bit chaotic with the curriculum. I wish every subject and book I have told me exactly what to do each week so I knew how to stay on pace. I figure some of the unknown will come with time.
I am finding that we finish school much earlier than I expected. Two things come to mind. 1) I have one child, and we are working one on one. So there are no distractions. 2) I think I need to add some extra curricular stuff, added to the printed school work. Activities and such. If you are a homeschooler and you have suggestions for me on activities for Kindergarten, I would love to hear them. Please comment.
All in all I am feeling better about this. I feel like I am doing exactly what God has called me to do. I feel like I am fulfilling His desire for our family. God has such amazing timing, His assurance came so strong this week when we were studying our science book. Our book is called “The World God Made” by Edward J Shewan. A question in the book was “Why do you think God made light?” Macie replied, “God is the light”. I gasped, and teared up. I asked where she learned that. “Everyone knows that Mommy. God is the light and the way.”
Talk about a moving moment. It was one of those I will remember and cherish all my life. It is what I will hold on to on the days that homeschooling isn’t so fun.

I homeschooled my son several years ago and I joined a group of other homeschool moms and we did a lot of educational field trips. Most of them were just free local sites but we did venture out of town for a few. When he was in High School we visited every Civil War battle field in the South. I learned as much as he did and nothing can compare to the relationship we developed along the way. Best wishes on your homeschooling.
