What Summer Has Looked Like

Our summer break started on June 1st.

However, it’s been anything but a break.  We have taken on a lot of home repairs and improvements.  While this is nothing to complain about for sure, I have to admit it’s been trying on my patience and energy.

Between keeping up with work (my favorite thing to do), running my kiddo around and making sure she gets fun summer time, and the home improvement stuff… I am wiped out.

The photos above are what the house use to look like.  Here is what things are looking like right now.

The house has been painted and as you can see everything around it has been torn away.  I don’t even have stairs going in to the front of the house HAHA!

I am a pretty clean person.  I like my home to be clean, and right now it’s a nasty mess of dust.  That has to be the hardest for me so far.  Just dirt everywhere.  No matter how much I clean it comes back in a few hours.

I know, you are so sad for me… NOT.  Again, this is a first world problem and I fully get that.  I actually am ashamed that I have a single moment of distress over something that is such a blessing.

Tomorrow they are coming to pour concrete in the backyard.  It’s been framed in like this for a week now.  It’s been a bit treacherous to walk around.  But this is currently the only entrance into the house.

During all this everyones paper was delivered.  (Did you order a paper share?)

My friend Debra came to help, and I also hired my daughter and sister.  It takes a village!

My father in law has been awesome to come and help my hubby in the evenings and weekends on all the home repair stuff.

But this week he even came and did some stuff when the hubby was at work.  So incredible of him.  I caught a quick picture of the grandkids helping him take nails out of boards.  I thought it was so cute.  I found out later that he paid them a little for their help HAHA!

Thanks so much for hanging out with me.

I will be back on Monday with a Facebook live event at 10:30am PST.  I hope you can join me.  I have a great giveaway!

  1. Wishing you good luck with the remodel, there is always pain before gain when working on any project. Looking forward to see the progress on your project.

  2. I know what you mean about the dust! We were without a kitchen for 2 weeks when we remodeled and had the hardware floors refinished. I think it took us just as long to clean everything afterwards! In the end, it will be worth it.

  3. I totally understand about home improvements. This is the second house we have done (and we said when we bought this one – we did not want a fixer upper!) hahaha! We are almost done this time and neither of us ever want to move again! It is worth it when it is all finished and life settles back down.

  4. Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m sorry it’s so hard. It always is, but I’m anxious to see the after pictures!

  5. I think change is exciting. Your house is already prettier. The porch will be amazing. With all of that said in the process of remodeling is not fun. We are just doing our deck this year and that in itself is a pain. It is high off the ground, no access from the yard, so everything has to come through the house. At least when it is done, hopefully last another 15 years plus years. One last note, I love your sign on the door.
